Because you\u2019re a submissive man. And your whole life, society has told you that one of those things negates the other. That submission isn\u2019t masculine<\/em>. That masculinity isn\u2019t submissive<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Come out of hiding, crawl up here in my lap while I tell you the truth:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Vanilla world has been lying to you.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Nobody can steal your masculinity if you want it. It\u2019s yours. Inherently<\/em>. Un-stealably. Being submissive has never put it at risk.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Even more important: playing at dominance doesn\u2019t make you brave. It actually does the opposite<\/em>. It\u2019s caving to peer pressure. It\u2019s hiding<\/em>. It\u2019s sacrificing your authentic self on the altar of societal expectations.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I\u2019m not here to tell you those expectations don\u2019t exist. They do.<\/em> It\u2019s part of what people mean when they use the word patriarchy\u2014a world where you\u2019ve been told that by virtue of being a man you are also required to be 35 other things you never agreed to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Dominant. Violent. Anything but feminine.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But following the crowd has never been the brave move. Living your truth is. <\/em>Loving yourself when the world tries to tell you you\u2019re not lovable is. Letting go of their opinions to trust what you already know deep in your gut is.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Buried as it might be, I know what\u2019s deep in that gut if you\u2019re brave enough to find it:<\/p>\n\n\n\n Authenticity.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Self-love.<\/p>\n\n\n\n Submission.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I don\u2019t mean that you have to be out and proud with every person you meet. I don\u2019t mean that you put a SUBMISSIVE stamp on your business cards. I understand that society doesn\u2019t understand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n What I want for you is this: to understand, deep in your soul, that you being yourself is courage<\/em>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n I never hear a man describe himself as dominant and think he\u2019s brave. Embracing societal expectations may or may not be a positive in some cases\u2014but it\u2019s never an act of courage.<\/p>\n\n\n\n But you? YOU, kitten? Living your truth? That\u2019s fucking brave. That\u2019s fucking strong. That\u2019s something to pay attention to.<\/p>\n\n\n\n In case you needed the reminder today: every time you decide you like the submissive part of yourself, you\u2019re doing something brave. Something unusual.
